Easy waste transport - with the platform tractor from Movexx
At the plant of the connector manufacturer ODU from Mühldorf, more than 2.5 tons of waste are generated every day. Collected in containers, this has to be taken to the central waste collection point. A case for the GRUMA company, which supports the process with the Movexx type T1000 platform tractor.
Disposal logistics in companies is a tough job. Heavy garbage cans, pallets and special containers have to be transported every day. For the waste disposal logisticians at ODU, thought was given in 2017 to an efficient and, above all, employee-friendly way of transporting the waste volumes on the company premises. From the outset, it was clear that only a transport aid with an electric drive would be considered. Another requirement was that the future pulling and towing aid with a trailer should be able to transport several waste containers at the same time.
With these requirements in mind, Roland Seilinger, Team Leader Warehouse at ODU, started looking - and quickly found what he was looking for. After research, the Movexx type T1000 platform tractor from GRUMA seemed to be the solution to the existing transport problem.
Test and commissioning
Shortly after the request, GRUMA provided one of its Movexx electric vehicles for testing. In addition to the tractor, ODU also needed a suitable trailer suitable for the containers to be transported. Here, too, GRUMA was able to support with its special and custom solutions and supplied(note: trailer came from the manufacturer) a trailer made to measure.
Movexx T1000 platform in detail
The weatherproof battery pack, which can be replaced with a handle, contains a lithium LiFePO4 battery with 36 Ah. The 24 V electric motor with an output of 420 W is optimally designed for operation with trailers and further enables the towing of heavy loads. The tractor's weight of only 120 kg is matched by a maximum trailer load of up to 1000 kg.
The test vehicle including trailer was acquired by ODU in December 2017 and has been in continuous use since then. Since the operator's waste logistics take place exclusively outdoors, the Movexx type T1000 was able to prove its quality even in wind, rain and cold on salt-strewn factory roads. The splash-proof (IP44) electrical system with motor and control unit functioned without any problems, and the battery also showed only minor performance losses due to the cold. The powder-coated chassis, the water-protected wheel suspensions and bearings of the tractor were not affected by the constant exposure to road salt. However, the standard solid rubber wheels on the trailer were replaced by softer and springy pneumatic tires. As a result, driving on the sometimes uneven factory roads is better sprung and, above all, quieter.
