High-speed doors are often installed in production and goods distribution centers. First and foremost, they allow forklift trucks to pass quickly from the inside to the outside. They also ensure constant temperatures in production and logistics halls and protect employees from unhealthy drafts. In addition, birds and unauthorized persons are prevented from entering and soiling is prevented.

However, high-speed doors also pose a risk of accidents. Collisions with industrial trucks often occur, for example, if the roller shutter is not fully open when the vehicle passes through. In most cases, this results in property damage. However, the repair of rolling doors and forklifts or the replacement of damaged goods can cause high costs. The new "Door Control" module of the Linde Safety Guard assistance system provides a remedy. Industrial trucks and infrastructure communicate with each other via the intelligent door control, reliably preventing collision damage.

As with the Linde Safety Guard, the new Door Control function uses ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. The truck communicates with the building infrastructure via radio waves in the high-frequency range.

For example, when a forklift approaches a roll-up door, the travel speed is gradually reduced and the door opens automatically. To do this, the intelligent system determines the distance between the permanently installed units on the forklift and the high-speed door to within ten centimeters. After passing through, the gate closes again and the forklift can continue to travel at its normal speed. To prevent the gates from opening accidentally when forklifts drive past, the size and shape of the zones (spherical or rectangular) can be set to suit the user.
