Pick faster and more effectively - and on different shelf levels? With the Linde V modular Linde Material Handling (MH) delivers a new, high-performance player for high-bay racking that makes just that possible.
The machine has a lifting capacity of 1.2 tons, a visibility-optimized triplex mast with and without free lift, a comfortable operator's cab and reaches grab heights of up to 14.5 meters. Another plus point is the high level of safety thanks to improved stability, a new type of Linde personnel safety system and special lighting solutions. Thanks to the modular system and the large number of variants and equipment options, the chassis, mast and cab can also be perfectly adapted to the specific requirements of the application. The V modular will go on sale at LogiMAT in Stuttgart at the end of April.
Faster, higher, more extensive
Online retailing is booming. At the same time, demand for greater individualization is increasing, and with it the number of product designs. The consequence: the inventory is getting bigger and bigger. Large and small high-bay warehouses are therefore increasingly reaching their capacity limits. However, in order to create more storage space, people in metropolitan regions prefer to add more space instead of building new racks due to the high cost of space.
Powerful devices as gamechangers
The new Linde V modular was designed for precisely these requirements. Gripping heights of up to 14.5 meters? No problem at all with the Linde V modular. The machine outperforms its predecessor by a full 2.5 meters. Linde MH has also improved the lifting and lowering speeds. Here, an increase of 22 and 20 percent respectively is now possible. The time saved by the faster lifting and lowering of the cabin in turn has a positive effect on productivity.
Each bearing has its own requirements. To meet these, the Triplex mast is sold in two versions. The mast with free stroke is suitable for warehouses with different ceiling heights. Two lateral lifting cylinders instead of one centrally arranged lifting cylinder ensure optimized visibility here.
In the variant without free stroke, the mast extends faster because there are no pauses at the mast transitions. In addition, the mast has a very good visibility due to its design.
New functions for more security
Linde MH has also invested in safety in the form of a personal protection system (PPS). In the future, this will be used in all narrow aisle equipment and meets all the requirements of DIN standard 15185-2. This regulation prohibits the simultaneous presence of people and vehicles in narrow aisles and prescribes special protective measures if people and machines do inadvertently stay there at the same time. The Linde PPS represents such a protective measure. Using a laser scanner between the load wheels and at the rear on the drive side, the system detects people in a protective field of up to nine meters. As soon as a person enters the scanner's protective field, an alarm sounds and the vehicle comes to a safe stop. To prevent the device from braking abruptly, the picker's speed is reduced even before it reaches the protective zone by installing additional warning fields. In the transfer aisle, the Linde V modular can also be operated together with other vehicles due to its safety equipment. Here, too, the speed is reduced via the warning fields as soon as obstacles appear.
LED strips are used to ensure that the V modular is also clearly visible to other vehicles. The light strips are located at the front and rear of the lift mast and ensure optimum distribution of light in the close-up range. When the vehicle is moving in the direction of travel, the strips shine white. When the vehicle is moving in reverse, on the other hand, they shine red. This means that warehouse personnel always know from a distance in which direction the truck is moving.
The operator in focus
Goods picking is one of the most physically demanding tasks in the warehouse. An ergonomically designed workstation can sustainably relieve the operator here. Linde MH took this into account when developing the V modular.
For example, the V modular has a large operator's cab with plenty of room to move and a soft floor mat that cushions vibrations and prevents fatigue. The ergonomic control panel can also be mounted either on the load side or on the mast side, or on both sides.
This also applies to the positioning of the color display, which shows the operator all relevant information. This includes speed, lift height, residual capacity and steering angle, as well as other information from optional systems such as Linde warehouse navigation. Tilt barriers can also be used as an option, giving the operator an extra 50 centimeters of reach when removing goods from the rack. An auxiliary lift function also allows the operator to move the forks down by a defined amount at the push of a button so that he can conveniently deposit the goods from the rack.
