Hand pallet truck

With hand pallet trucks you can easily and quickly move medium-heavy loads. A hand pallet truck is particularly suitable if you often have to move pallets or pallet cages with material in the company. Due to its compact size, it can be used in confined spaces and taken anywhere. Loading and unloading trucks also becomes a breeze with a hand pallet truck. With hand pallet trucks, you can move light to medium loads of up to 5t. For larger loads, our electric pallet trucks are best.

How does a hand pallet truck work?

Hand pallet trucks have a sturdy frame and two metal forks that can be pushed under pallets, skeleton containers and other load carriers that can be driven under. In the front area of the forks there are rigid load rollers whose axles are firmly mounted on the frame.

The forks of a lift truck are height adjustable and rounded at the front to facilitate threading under the pallet. When the lift truck has been completely driven under the pallet, the forks can be raised manually by the operator so that the load can be transported without contact with the ground. Lifting and lowering of the load is accomplished by a hydraulic pump, which allows even weights of several tons to be lifted and maneuvered with little effort. In manual lift trucks, the pump is operated by the tiller, which is used by the operator to make pumping movements and raise the load until there is ground clearance. The lift truck can then be pulled or pushed, using the tiller to both move and steer the lift truck.

Tip: A quick lift function is worthwhile if pallets with a low weight have to be moved frequently - and also protects the operator's back.

Hand pallet truck drive types

Hand pallet trucks can generally be divided into manual, electric and semi-electric hand pallet trucks, depending on the type of drive. Our powerful electric pallet trucks from the Linde Light Range are ideal for loading and unloading goods, with only short distances to cover. The fully electric hand pallet trucks are equipped with innovative lithium ion batteries, which shorten charging times and extend operating time.

Frequently asked questions about hand pallet trucks

Unlike a forklift truck, for example, the load's center of gravity lies within the contour of the lift truck (in the case of a forklift truck, it is in the front area, so there must be sufficient counterweight. In electric forklifts, this is usually the battery). This allows for a very small turning circle, making lift trucks particularly recommended for use in narrow aisles, on truck beds, or generally in areas with little open space.

Lift trucks with short forks (800 mm length) are only suitable for picking up display pallets (EUR 6 pallets, "Düsseldorf pallets"), while lift trucks with standard forks (1,150 mm length) can pick up two display pallets or one standard pallet. Likewise, lift trucks with extended forks are offered, with which two pallets can be picked up and moved at the same time.
  • Requirements and field of application of the hand pallet truck were not precisely defined
  • When buying, only the price and not the technical key data was considered
  • Costs for necessary service or spare parts were not considered at the time of purchase
  • Necessary accessories were not considered during the purchase
  • CE mark and manufacturer's declaration of conformity are missing

Depending on the work situation, you can move our lift trucks both pulling and pushing. But even when using lift trucks, the ergonomic motto always applies: Keep your posture! After all, lift trucks should make the transport of medium-heavy loads easier and not become a health hazard themselves. Even though electric pallet trucks compensate well for high weights, you should protect your back by maintaining the correct posture - regardless of whether you are pulling or pushing.

No, a forklift license is not required for pedestrian operation. Instruction and briefing of the operator for pedestrian vehicles is sufficient.

In addition to the functions of the pallet truck, a manually or electrically operated scissor lift truck also offers the possibility of raising the working platform to an ergonomic working height of up to 800 mm by means of a scissor construction. They are thus not only used for transporting goods, but also provide valuable support for order picking or assembly work.
