Collisions with pedestrians are the most frequent cause of accidents when operating industrial trucks. Reversing forklift trucks pose a particularly high risk here. The LUIS camera with pedestrian detection provides a high level of safety here.
More security through AI technology
The EDGE AI CAM is an AI-based camera system that automatically registers pedestrians who are in the vicinity of the truck.
The integrated AI chip is trained on people. This enables the system to distinguish people from other obstacles in real time and alert the driver to a potential collision in several stages. The system therefore offers extremely effective protection, especially in tight driving situations.
Since the camera is specialized purely for personal warning, unnecessary warnings are reduced to a minimum.

Individual warning zones
All detection zones and warning mechanisms can be individually adapted to the respective vehicle and the requirements on site. In addition to visual and audible warnings, both distance-dependent warning levels and a speed reduction can be stored so that the vehicle automatically slows down in the vicinity of people. In the event of danger, the vehicle can also switch to a crawl speed, depending on the vehicle type.
Flexible mounting
For optimum all-round protection, the camera can also be additionally mounted on the front of the truck. This is already included as standard on new counterbalanced trucks, so that the driver is warned here during both forward and reverse travel.
All-in-one solution: software and hardware in one
With the LUIS camera, the AI software is already fully integrated into the camera. This means that no additional hardware components, such as portable personal transmitters or an additional control unit, are required. The system is active as soon as the driver starts the truck.
In the new generation of Linde counterbalanced trucks, the people camera is already integrated into the vehicle architecture as standard, so that all warnings are shown directly on the truck's display.
The system is also available as a retrofit solution for all current Linde truck series. It can be easily installed on any vehicle via plug-and-play and configured according to individual requirements.

LUISA is an assistance system that uses the person detection of the LUIS camera to warn the driver of an impending collision. As soon as the LUIS camera detects a potential danger, LUISA is activated and immediately flashes the LED strips in the cockpit.

Frequently asked questions
The LUIS camera for forklifts was designed for the toughest operating conditions, which is why neither dust nor water can harm it. Thus, the system can be used in a very dry as well as in a very humid environment without any problems. High pressure or steam jet cleaning is also possible.
The LUIS camera is also referred to by the manufacturer as the Linde Reverse Assist Camera. It is therefore the same device.
