Restraint systems

Studies have shown that 25% of all fatal accidents involving forklifts are tipping accidents. These are usually due to improper operation, such as transporting a raised load or cornering too quickly. If the truck tips over, the unsecured operator can be ejected or seriously or even fatally injured while attempting to jump off the vehicle.

Such accidents must be avoided at all costs. For this reason, a restraint system has been required by law since December 2002.

Simple operation

Available systems

Restraint systems can be divided into mono systems and duo systems. The decision in favor of one of the two systems depends on the type of mounting and the vehicle type. Mono systems are mounted under the driver's seat or on the vehicle roof. In this system, the left and right safety bars are connected to each other. (not available separately) Duo systems, on the other hand, are attached to the vehicle frame. The left and right safety bar are mounted separately here. (available individually)

The following devices must be equipped with restraint systems according to the legal regulations:

  • Front seat forklift truck up to 10 tons capacity
  • Cross stacker (side stacker)

The right restraint system for every application

HRS-E Duo System

The HRS-E Duo restraint system is the semi-automatic version of our Duo systems and a simple solution to effectively protect the forklift operator.

With the HRS-E Duo system, the safety bars are attached to the driver protection frame and lie within the truck contour. They can also be opened upward and closed downward manually by the operator. An integrated electronic drive release prevents unsecured driving off with the safety bar open. The truck can only be set in motion after it has been manually closed and the forklift driver thereby automatically secured.

Details of the HRS-E Duo System

  • Two-part system (left and right vehicle side) - also available individually
  • Mounting the bracket on the driver protection frame
  • Easy operation (when the handle is pressed, the bracket automatically opens upwards).
  • Bracket opens within the contour, even in tight spaces, the driver can exit the vehicle easily
  • Driving release only possible with closed stirrup - driving operation is electrically interrupted with open stirrups
  • Manual closing of the bracket for driving clearance
  • Tension-independent restraint system

HRS-E Duo Swing

The HRS-E Duo swivel restraint system is the innovative further development of the HRS-E Duo restraint system. (mandatory for series 387 and 388)

The HRS-E Duo swivel restraint system is particularly well suited for vehicles in a two- to three-shift operation. Thanks to a swivel device, the safety restraints can be folded back by 180° to facilitate lateral battery changes. By folding up the safety stirrups, battery replacement is quick, effective and uncomplicated. During operation, the safety bars, identical to the HRS-E Duo restraint system, are manually opened upwards and closed downwards within the forklift contours.

ERS Duo Swivel System

The ERS Duo swivel restraint system is the fully automatic version of our Duo systems. This restraint system offers above all comfort and easy operation. By operating the handbrake, the safety bar opens and closes automatically.

  • Two-part system (left and right vehicle side) - also available individually
  • Mounting the bracket on the driver protection frame
  • Convenience & ease of use - by pressing the handbrake, the bracket opens and closes (when the handbrake is applied, the bracket automatically opens upwards).
  • Bracket opens within the contour, even in tight spaces, the driver can exit the vehicle easily
  • Safe parking of the forklift in accordance with DGUV regulation 68 - by coupling with hand brake
  • Driving release only possible with closed stirrup - driving operation is electrically interrupted with open stirrups
  • Automatic closing of the bracket by releasing the handbrake
  • Swivels (180°) to the rear - facilitates battery replacement
  • Entry facilitated by folding away the bracket
  • Voltage transformer is included

GBS / GBS-E

The harness system is a further development of the simple lap belt and addresses its weakness: The sometimes laborious application.

Even a jacket makes it considerably more difficult to insert the belt into the belt buckle. With the belt retractor system, this step is a thing of the past. By folding down the belt bar, the driver is automatically secured. When the buckle is unlocked, the safety bar opens and moves up automatically, allowing the driver to get out without any problems.

  • Innovative further development of the lap belt
  • By folding down the bar, the driver is automatically secured, the sometimes laborious putting on of the lap belt is considerably facilitated
  • When the lock is unlocked, the shackle opens upwards automatically and the driver can get out of the car
  • For GBS-E: Driving release only possible with closed stirrup - driving operation is electrically interrupted with open stirrups
  • Opening speed of the bracket can be adjusted individually
  • Available with and without electronic driving approval

The HRS-E Mono restraint system

The HRS-E Mono restraint system is the semi-automatic version of our mono systems and a simple solution to effectively protect the forklift operator.

With the HRS-E Mono restraint system, the safety bars lie within the vehicle contours and are attached under the driver's seat or to the vehicle roof, which means that the driver's seat has no restrictions on its adjustment options. The safety restraints can be manually opened upward and closed downward by the driver. An integrated electronic drive release prevents unsecured driving off with the safety bar open. The truck can only be set in motion after the safety bar has been closed manually and the driver has been automatically secured.

Protector / Protector-E

Manual restraint system without or with electric drive release

The Protector can be mounted instead of an ordinary vehicle door. Its advantages are clear:
With the same opening function and safety for the driver, there is no heat buildup in the vehicle cabin due to better air flow.

SUN-Protector / SUN-Protector-E

Thanks to the ease of installation, this restraint system is a great alternative for an existing closed cab, especially in the summer months.

The Sun-Protector is hooked into the existing door hinges (not included). Overheated vehicle cabs are now a thing of the past. Drive in summer with our Sun-Protector and in winter with your closed driver's cab.
