New assistance system: Linde Motion Detection

Reversing sensors for forklifts? The new "Linde Motion Detection" assistance system warns both the forklift driver and passers-by in the rear working area of a collision, making it an effective means of accident prevention. Read all about the new safety system in the article.

Accident prevention thanks to clever motion sensors

Reversing sensors in a truck? The newLinde Motion Detectionassistance system makes it possible. Read all about the feature in the article.

Accidents between pedestrians and forklifts occur time and again in warehouses. The most critical situations include storage and retrieval or picking up and setting down loads. Here, the forklift operator's attention is usually focused more on the load than on the surroundings. If a pedestrian enters this area, he or she is often exposed to increased danger.

To provide even better protection for pedestrians in storage areas, Linde Material Handling (MH) has developed the new assistance system "Linde Motion Detection" assistance system. This defuses dangerous situations by warning both the forklift driver and people who appear in the rear working area.

A motion sensor reliably detects any movement behind the stationary vehicle, regardless of the prevailing lighting conditions.

It is therefore irrelevant whether the sensor is triggered by people or other vehicles.

As soon as an object is detected, the system automatically stops the truck's reverse travel and warns the driver via an indication on the display. In addition, an acoustic alarm is optionally triggered to alert passers-by to the hazardous situation. The driver is not allowed to continue driving until he has actively returned the accelerator pedal to its initial position. This precaution further increases safety.

The assistance system supports the operator, especially in challenging work environments such as poorly lit warehouse sections or areas that are difficult to see. The detection area can be flexibly adapted to the respective operating and ambient conditions. This defuses critical situations and prevents unnecessary warnings.

Both employees and the employer benefit from effective accident prevention. This means that the health of everyone present in the warehouse is better protected, forklift drivers are relieved, downtime or disruptions to the operating process are prevented as far as possible and, as a result, productivity is improved. The sensor-based solution will initially be available as an option for the new counterbalance series. The retrofit solution is to follow shortly, which can then also be used for other forklift brands.

Linde Motion Detection is part of Linde MH's comprehensive safety portfolio. With standard and optional assistance systems, such as the Linde Safety Guard or Linde Safety Pilotas well as consulting services, the company helps its customers to handle goods safely and efficiently.
