Electric forklifts and internal combustion engines on a par

The new Linde X20 - X35 electric forklift models in the 2.0 to 3.5 ton payload range achieve the performance and robustness of Linde hydrostats for the first time, combining them with the environmental benefits of battery operation. Are you curious? Find out more about the new e-trucks in our blog post.

The issues of sustainability and climate neutrality are becoming increasingly important for companies. In intralogistics, many companies are therefore already using emission-free electric forklifts. They can be operated in a particularly cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner if the electricity is self-produced and obtained from renewable energies such as wind, sun or biomass, for example. Another plus point for the use of electric forklifts: the quiet engines. Noise pollution of the neighborhood can thus be avoided, for example. But even though battery-powered vehicles have many advantages, there are areas of application in which internal combustion engines are still superior.

What was needed, therefore, was an electric forklift truck that was just as powerful as it was robust. During the development of the new series, however, it quickly became clear to those responsible for the project at Linde Material Handling that the desired equivalence would not be achieved with a mere increase in performance. In addition to the standard truck, the Linde E20 - E35, there will therefore be a second particularly robust and powerful Linde electric truck model series in the 2.0 to 3.5 ton payload range: the Linde X20 - X35.

The new equation:

E = V

The forklifts in the Linde X20 - X35 series can now also be used in areas where conventional electric forklifts have previously reached their performance limits. These include, for example, large inclines to be mastered by the vehicles, high handling rates to be achieved on a permanent basis or a lot of dust and dirt.

The comparative tests according to the TÜV-certified performance test developed by Linde MH have yielded two main results:

But what makes the new model series so unique? Thanks to its long wheelbase, large tires and elastomer ring bearings as shock absorbers on the front axle, even very uneven surfaces pose no problem for the new Linde X20 - X35 truck during outdoor operations. The latter also prevents the transmission of vibrations and shocks from the wheels to the driver caused by uneven ground. The result? Physical stress is reduced and a consistently high level of work performance by man and machine is made possible. Insensitivity to dirt and dust particles also makes the new e-truck the perfect machine for outdoor use. This is made possible by completely sealed or encapsulated units in the battery and engine compartments. Linde's lithium-ion system ensures that the Linde X20 - X35 always has sufficient energy available. This consists of differently dimensioned and particularly safe, shock-resistant high-performance batteries and chargers.

Anyone looking for an electric forklift for indoor use with, for example, smooth industrial floors or narrow racking aisles, should go for the new Linde E20 - E35 standard trucks. Thanks to the compact vehicle dimensions and the combined steering axle, turning maneuvers with the smallest radius are no problem. There are also various energy options to choose from: Whether the customer wants to use a lead-acid battery, a lithium-ion battery, a fuel cell system or an existing battery, everything is possible. If the battery has to be changed once, a low-lift truck is sufficient for this.

The platform concept of the Linde E20 - E35 is identical to that of the Linde V trucks. Operators thus benefit from the large viewing windows in the electric truck as well. Furthermore, in addition to the weather-proof cab with fully glazed doors, most of the other options of the combustion engine are also available for the electric trucks.

The fully integrated air conditioning system with eight-nozzle ventilation system provides powerful cooling and heating in all ambient conditions. The optional " Linde Motion Detection" driving assistance system provides added safety.

Here, sensors register movements in the rear of the truck and prevent the truck from reversing if there are people or vehicles there. The 12XX generation of forklifts also scores in terms of operational availability. The maintenance requirements of the robust design, which is less susceptible to repair, are low and essential assemblies operate without wear. In addition, vehicle availability can be further increased by networking service processes and the new Truck Health Management system based on wirelessly transmitted vehicle data.

Due to the uniform platform concept, there is also a greater number of common parts, which means that assembly can be carried out on a common mix conveyor. This not only simplifies logistics, but also allows greater flexibility in the event of production fluctuations, as well as flexible swapping of components from different models and rapid conversion of rental trucks. The almost identical controls of the three forklift types also enable the operator to switch between vehicles quickly and easily. Last but not least, new options are available simultaneously for all models in a load class.
